The annual Harvest Fest Rib Cook-Off and Parade was held Saturday in Berlin, Ohio. The smell of cooking barbeque ribs was already wafting through town by the time I got there late morning. Ribs are one of my favorite foods and I like them fall-off-the-bone tender and juicy with lots of barbeque sauce. Proceeds for the event go to a local charity, Every Woman’s House, an organization committed to providing housing and other services to abused women and children. The weather was superb and lots of folks hit the streets to sample the ribs and other food items and listen to music on the square. I was disappointed that I wasn’t able to stay for the parade in the evening but was helping my sister at the Buckeye Event Center in Dalton with her event. This year’s judges chose Log Cabin Catering and Dining of Sugarcreek, Ohio as the rib cook-off winner. The fan’s favorite award went to Cindy’s Diner of Berlin. The summer is fading in Amish country and giving way to what we hope will be a beautiful fall season with gorgeous fall foilage and beautiful clear-blue skies.
